From warrior to Survivor
Dave served his country with pride as a Marine, facing the challenges of multiple deployments. Yet, when he returned home, the battles didn’t end. Haunted by the visible and invisible wounds of war, Dave struggled to adjust to civilian life. His days were filled with anxiety, and the weight of his experiences made finding peace seem impossible.
But then came Bert, a rescue dog trained through the K9s For Warriors program. From the moment they met, things began to change. With Bert by his side, Dave found renewed strength and purpose. Their bond gave him the courage to face each day, helping him rebuild his life one step at a time.

Bert wasn’t just a companion; he became Dave’s lifeline. Trained to recognize the signs of PTSD and anxiety, Bert provided the support Dave needed to navigate the challenges of everyday life. From easing tension in stressful situations to offering constant comfort, Bert has given Dave more than peace of mind—he’s given him a second chance at life.
